Monday Night Football has Dandy Don, Frank and Howard. Their vociferous counterparts at the World Mud Bowl are none other than Peter “Pigge” Case and Danny “DD” del Rossi. This illustrious duo of irreverent minds do the play by play for the games every year.

Being associated with mud football and the Mt. Washington Valley Hogs comes naturally for Peter, as evidenced by his nickname of Pigge. In addition, the North Conway, NH resident is also the president of the Couchon & Co. (that’s Pig and Company in French) Mustard Co., a gourmet mustard sold in fine restaurants and stores everywhere. Aside from just having fun by muttering audacious comments, Pigge says that the community aspect behind the World Mud Bowl is what keeps him coming back year after year. The outfits worn by the lovely Hogettes help, too.

“I’ve always been involved in volunteerism of one sort or another, whether serving as an announcer here or as the chairman of the Freedom Old Home Week every summer, Pigge explained while studying this year’s team rosters prior to the games. “Volunteerism is part of any good community - I’m proud to be part of this effort, because of the people involved and because of the size of the event. There are a lot of good people working on this and I like being a part of that,” the former announcer for the Talking Books for the Blind program, stated.

Sharing the broadcasting duties with Pigge is his Freedom neighbor and longtime Valley personality, Danny del Rossi. A popular Valley record spinner and dance DJ over the years, DD says that the World Mud Bowl is the highlight of his year. “The whole Mud Bowl concept of the community pitching in for the benefit of local charities is what really pleases me. Not only that, but it’s a lot of fun, too,” said Danny, noting that he certainly doesn’t mind his traditional dunking in the mud by the Hogettes every year at the conclusion of the game, either. “I look forward to it getting bigger and better,” Danny added, “especially since I can’t wait to be discovered. Then Howard and Dandy and Frank better look out.”

Assisted by Mike Morrison of Buffalo Sounds, the Mud Bowl team brings you the best color of the hampionships of the zany sport. They may not always know the score, but they’re always on top of the action.
